Real treasures

God's growth plan for your life

Every night follows a day! In the creation report in Genesis One, God tells us that there was evening and there was morning, the first day (Genesis 1:5)

This tells us that in God’s economy a night is always succeeded by a day. Many times we pass through the nights of life. These may be tests, challenges, temptation, pain, mourning and even failure. We are human and by far not perfect. Yet the night will never rule forever. The last word spoken in our life is never meant to be darkness but light. When we follow Jesus we follow the light of the world and walking in His footsteps means, that we never walk in darkness anymore, but will have the light of life (John 8:12).

The Apostle Paul passed through many trying situations in his life. Yet he gives us great encouragement out of his own experiences as he kept his never shaking confidence in the Lord. He writes to the Corinthians:
“For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” (2 Corinthians 4:6 -7) – (NIV84)

Every dark spot in his life was succeeded by greater life and revelation. While we are still in a frail body which we will eventually change into a perfect and eternal body, we yet carry the treasures of God in us, treasures that originate from our Father above. God sends his life so that we have a greater understanding of our God who has revealed himself in the coming of His Son, Jesus Christ. The real treasure that we carry with us has nothing to do with the objects that are valued in this world. God’s treasures are eternal and are found in the revelation of the greatest treasures that can compete with nothing in all of creation. This all-surpassing power is found in the unveiling of the nature of our Father who has revealed Himself in Christ. This treasure can never be taken from us, rather we will carry this treasure from this world into eternity.

Expect more of this light of God to be revealed as you study the Word of our God.

When you move with the Almighty

2 Kings 7:1  Elisha replied, “Listen to this message from the Lord! This is what the Lord says: By this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, five quarts of choice flour will cost only one piece of silver, and ten quarts of barley grain will cost only one piece of silver.”  2  The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, “That couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!” But Elisha replied, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!”  – (NLT)

2 Kings 7:3  Now there were four men with leprosy sitting at the entrance of the city gates. “Why should we sit here waiting to die?” they asked each other.  4  “We will starve if we stay here, but with the famine in the city, we will starve if we go back there. So we might as well go out and surrender to the Aramean army. If they let us live, so much the better. But if they kill us, we would have died anyway.”  5  So at twilight they set out for the camp of the Arameans. But when they came to the edge of the camp, no one was there!  6  For the Lord had caused the Aramean army to hear the clatter of speeding chariots and the galloping of horses and the sounds of a great army approaching. “The king of Israel has hired the Hittites and Egyptians to attack us!” they cried to one another.  7  So they panicked and ran into the night, abandoning their tents, horses, donkeys, and everything else, as they fled for their lives.

Proverbs 28:1  The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions.  – (NLT)
